St. Louis Shower by Sister Barbie

Sunday Aug 24 - My sister Barbie threw me a shower with friends in St. Louis. Barbie is the queen of throwing parties and get togethers. The "Baby Shower" sign hung is from her own shower for my niece Jade 14 years ago - cute huh? Chicken salad sandwhiches, fruit lettuce salad, cake, and other goodies.

This was a game that Michelle made. Take a look at the 12 items on the floor: wipes, butt creme, lotions, diapers, onesies, etc. Guess how much all that cost? My guess was $42...eeeh - wrong! The winner guessed $72! Can you believe how expensive this little guy is going to be to support? But I still won, because I got to keep all the goodies! Thanks Michelle.

Plus tons more gifts from my friends....

And here we are: Laura, Barbie, Michelle, me, Angela, Kristen, Ursula, Lauren, Tiffany, Mireia, Jacqueline, and Yukari.

Cutest Little Things

So technically no one is supposed to know the name yet, we are keeping it a secret until he gets here. But the girls from Customer Care beat it out of me so they could make a customized gift for him. I just got it today in the mail and it is SOOOO cool. I love that they put his name on the stuff but they also used the colors of his nursery. It's a hooded towel, bib, 2 burp cloths, and a pacifier clip.

This kid is so spoiled and he's not even here yet. C'mon, customized burp cloths? If we have a 2nd kid, I'll feel sorry for them because they will not be able to live up to all the cool stuff this one is getting.

The girl who made them did a great job. She is the sister of one of the girls from Customer Care. Her prices are reasonable and I like her style. Check out her website: www.katieskreationsandembroidery.com

Another Baby Shower?

The Super Siete insisted on throwing me a shower even though my sister was already throwing me one. This one was Super Special though. I was really blown away by how cool the shower was.

The cupcakes were awesome from Jilly's cupcake bar. I can't remember all the flavors but I do remember really liking the key lime pie and the smurtle? (combo of smores and turtle together),

I had no idea they would get into it with decorations too - I think the credit on this goes to Michelle though. She had lots of ballons and I love that she added orange since that is one of the colors in our nursery. I took the balloons home but they ran out of helium quickly. I should have sent them with Jacqueline so her son Vincent could play with them. Matt was out of town in Colorado otherwise I'm sure he would have had fun inhaling the helium and making funny voices.

They even had fresh flowers!

Here's Amy and Jacqueline playing with the edimame.

I think the food was my favorite. They made an Asian themed dinner with edimame, crabmeat rangoons, egg rolls, salad, kabobs with peanut sauce, lettuce wraps, vegetables, and dumplings. I ate every single thing, it was so delicious and 99% of it was home made by my friends.

Wow, who knew the super siete was so good at wrapping presents too? They were all way too generous and got Matt and I some really great gifts that we will be able to use for a long time.

Then we spent the rest of the night chatting, laughing, and telling stories on Michelle's comfortable patio furniture. Here we are - the Super Siete!

Baby Shower in Iowa

Posted by Picasa
My mom threw us a baby shower at her new house. Here is a picture of all the Martin's. I was really happy that everyone made it. There are 19 grandkids on that side of the family so you can imagine how many soccer games, piano practice, etc. they have going on. So to have almost all of them at the shower was very impressive.

Here is my side of the family. Aunts, cousins, and family came to the shower. It was a huge success. Lots of love and support from everyone.

We received mountains of gifts. Everyone was so generous. I'm not sure how people without families do it.

Matt was a great sport and attended the shower too while it was all girls. He really liked this shirt and thought it was for him but it's a little small for him.

Here was little baby Martin at a little over 30 weeks at the baby shower on Aug 2.

Nursery in Progress

This photo was the inspiration for our nursery. The bedding set in this photo though is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive, so we found something close to it and are using the colors in this image.

My wonderful husband painted the nursery. We used Olympic paint from Lowes which is zero VOC for the same price as normal paint. We tried to get the 'burnt orange' look in the inspiration photo but I think we went a little too bright orange, but I still like it. My mom was super generous and bought us the crib and nursery furniture (not purchased yet) for the room. The crib is from Target and was about $160 in an Espresso finish The mattress was about $100 at Target as well and we found the bedding at Burlington Coat factory for about $125. The bedding is organic cotten (just by luck!) and has deer, rabbits and squirrels on it.

Of course Matt found this faux dead deer head at Cabella's, but it's actually really cute. We bought 2 but have not decided how to display them yet.

This was a storage shelf from Target that is filling up fast.

Who knew that we would put so much work into a bedroom for a little guy that won't even care what it looks like. But it's fun for us!

Starting to blog

A couple of my friends blog regularly to post random thoughts and or post photos. I love to read their blogs and especially see the photos they share. I'm going to attempt to blog so we can share photos of our soon to be born baby boy.

Be patient with me as I am NEW to the blogger world!
